ADHD. could i have it. and who do i ask for help?

i think i may have adhd. i have all the signs (cant stay still, having to get out of my chair and walk, i cant pay attention, i can barley comprehend what i read). I tried telling my dad but he said that i was just pretending. (he got realy mad when i brought it up.) i am thinking about asking my aunt, but i dont know how to tell her. any help would be great

well, it sound like ADHD to me. But you need to go to the Dr. But if you feel you must tell someone in your family how you feel, and that you think you have this problem, then go on. Nothing feels Better than going to the Dr. knowing you family is there to suport you.

People who dont have ADHD cant understand it. They may think you are just being lazy because they dont understand how someone can have these problems as they dont know what it feels like. Many people who have had nothing to do with ADHD dont beleive in it because they have always been taught that they are in control of their own behaviour so they tend to think using a term like ADHD is an excuse.

But it isn't, every part of the body can dysfuntion and cause deisieses and disorders. That includes the part of the brain that controls concentration and behaviour. Saying that ADHD isnt real is like saying that it is impossible for thee brain not to work perfectly well in everyone and we all know that isnt true.

Do try telling your aunt, if you arent sure how why not show her what you have written here and go from there. Also you may be able to try your counceller at school.

See your Dr and get bloods done. Be aware too though that ADHD is heavily over-diagnosed and that it could well be something else. There are a few things it could be but it would be pointless mentioning them here in case they're irrelevant - best things is simply to see the Dr.

Whatever happens, best of luck.

make an appointment with your dr and ask him to give you a complete physical including blood work. Sometimes it can be a vitamin, or mineral deficiency causing this. If it isn't any of those, ask for a referral to a psychologist who can test you.

Ask your doctor!
