Do people with ADHD/ADD have little observation of things, or do they notce things in detail?

it's just my boyfriend has ADD, and I've always thought he didn't notice stuff that much because hes so forgetful and unaware of people around him.. also that he doesn't know some of my friends names, though hes met them atleast 2 or 3 times...but then today i saw some of his drawings, and they're amazing with every little bit of detail..

so i don't know, help? He has a pretty heavy 'case' of it aswell if that helps

Lila he does get treated, but sometimes the meds make him very quiet and he gets really upset and over anylizes everything... I think I should ask another question aswell..

sometimes we don't get on too well, just because his communication is terrible.. and he forgets to tell me things, and it annoys me and i get mad, but then when i see him or talk to him he looks so upset and angry at himself, that it makes me feel horrible for being mad at him. i just don't know what to do, it hurts us both. he seems to make so much 'mistakes' with me, and it just fustrates him and i don't want to do that to him. can somebody help with dealing with it? we're both only young aswell... 16 and 18

I have ADD and writing and drawing are two of my favorite hobbies, details are things that I tend to notice. Of course like with any other person how aware you are of these details varies from person to person. Like your boyfriend I have trouble with remembering names as well I can remember there face in detail but it takes me a while to memorize their names. It could or could not be related to his ADD I know plenty of people afflicted or not that have trouble with names and some who will hear a name once and never forget it. Of course with ADD/HD remembering names of those who don't stick out to him or that have something about them that draws his interest, like a quirky personality or defining birthmark, may be the names he has trouble rembering or don't pay attention to.

I'm no expert these are just conclusions i've made from living with it my self.

With ADHD/ADD your boyfriends mind is speeding so fast that he is unable to concentrate enough to remember many things including names of those he has met a few times. With his art he has to time to look and can spend as much time as he needs to get this work the way he wants it. I hope he is being treated for his ADHD?ADD he shouldn't be suffering without medication. If he isn't getting help maybe you can discuss this with him. There is help he doesn't have to suffer.
