Can ADHD be cured? Please read, i really need your answer?

ok. i met a 17 yr old boy. at first you won't see that's something is wrong with him. we visited their house for the first time. he was so friendly and he can catch up on our other conversations. he is polite and asks questions nicely. you won't even notice he has adhd.

at first, he asks me some questions about school, about where do we live and sort of like an interview. i did notice something about him, he's kinda childish because he always asks and puts up a topic. ok, it's lunch time. her mom and my dad were chatting and he joined too. my dad told a joke and he laughed loud. his father said sshhh.! its kinda silly for me...

after lunch, their maid put out his psp. and his mom said to my mom that every 1:00 in afternoon, they will let him play...

now i understand. he has adhd...

does adhd has cure?

thanks for reading :)

DARCY G, what i mean about the psp is when he used the psp too much it might be bad for him. but for normal persons, is not

It cannot usually be completely cured, although it sounds as though his family are well aware of the situation and are handling it quite well. As he gets older the ADHD will eventually become a distance thing, however when he is excited, or upset he will become very loud and/or frustrated quicker than the average person.

There is no such thing as ADHD. It's a disease made up by people who think it's wrong to punish children. When the children turn in to spoiled little brats, they have to give a reason for it besides the fact that they've had no discipline in their life. So they've decided that it's a disease.

There is no cure for that but it can be managed with medication. I have a friend who is ADD and he takes a pill every single day. He is a college professor at Duke University.

rely he has adhd because of a psp and did you ask if he has adhd because my brother has adhd it dose not make sense that you think that this kid has adhd it ios not cure abl and thar is treatment and meds to make it better

No it can not be cured, but controlled through intervention such as diet, etc.
He could have a mild form of austism

EVERYONE says that ADHD has no cure. I am engaged to someone who has ADHD. There isn't a complete cure for it, but there are things that can be done to slow it down and even stop some parts of it. For example, slow the person down when they are talking or asking questions if they seem to get too fast and slur. Also, limit activities that can take complete attention span from someone. It's not like ADHD is retardation. Why are they treating a 17 year old boy like this? I just thought of that. That seems like they are not trying to help him.

there is no definite cure for ADHD, although it can be managed with behavioural modifications (how parents should manage their child like giving a structure or a to do list so that the child would know what he needs to do for the day as they get easily distracted, and how they respond to a negative behaviour for example) and medications like ritalin are also effective but needs to be given for a sustained period of time to suppress the hyperactivity and distractability

also some children with ADHD may also have anxiety problems or depression and these sort of things need to get addressed by the child psychiatrist

ADHD might be overdiagnosed because a lot of parents don't expect kids to have as much energy as they naturally do, but there are a lot of kids who actually do have the condition (they have extreme difficulty focusing & calming down) & respond well to treatment.

ADHD has no cure, but over time, people with the condition learn how to deal with it in a way that best suits their needs. A lot of people experience mild annoying side effects from the meds, so they will take their meds on days when they know they'll need to be concentrating on something, like school or homework, and then on weekends or days when they won't have work to do they skip the meds. They get to know how their bodies work on and off the meds, and they tweak their med schedules accordingly. I've met a few kids who say they are more creative while off the meds, so they'll take them on school days, but on weekends & holidays they skip them and do creative things like art or music. Medication usage & scheduling must be discussed with their doctors first, though. Some people can't tweak their med routines like this because they have more severe ADHD and need the meds every day.
