Do you have ADD or ADHD? ?

This is for some personal research, if you do have ADD or ADHD or if a relative or friend of yours does, could you please list their Age, age of diagnoses(if you know it) and ethnicity(s)? Thanks

I am mostly asking because it seems like an aweful lot of children are being diagnosed with it, I am beginning to wonder if it is just the expectations our public schools have are unrealistic.

I have ADD, I was tested for it at 16, officially diagnosed at 17. My dad has ADD, he was 51 when he was diagnosed. We are both Muskogee Creek. My second eldest half brother (same mother, different father) was diagnosed with mild ADD when he was 20 - he is 1/2 Creek, 1/2 Israeli Jew (Semite). My two female cousins (sisters)have ADHD they were diagnosed at 10 and 12, they are what we call 'full Mvskoke' (1/2 Creek, 1/2 Seminole). And my son who is 5 is starting to show signs of ADHD, but his pediatrician will not test or treat him yet, in our state you have to be 8 before you can be tested, treated or even diagnosed with/for ADD/ADHD. He is 1/2 Creek, 1/2 Caucasian (German).

I, my mother and my aunt are all nonsmokers. I and my brother were both 3 weeks premature though. My father's mother was a smoker. He is the exception to the lack environmental triggers. It is blatantly obvious that it is genetic in my family.

I have ADHD and am a white female of 28 years of age. I was first dignosed at age 6 and then was re evaluated on a regular basis and have recieved the diganosis of ADHD by 12 different doctorsbetween the ages of 6 and 28.

I inherited this disorder from my father but am the only member of my generation to suffer from it. My generation contains 17 members including my siblings and 1st cousins, yet I was the only 1 to inherit it.

It can seem like heaps of kids are diagnosed with this disorder nowadays but it can also be because we hear more about it. The media like to play up the figures and people are open to talking about it than they were in the past. I think you will find that the diagnostic rates are not as high as they seem.

I believed that I had ADD. ADHD as a child. I now believe that it's a form of rebellion. I don't want to learn/do the things I'm meant to, so my focus diverts to what I am interested in. Also, I believe that more Fish Oil will help and breathing properly. Stress management (meditation or some form of relaxation-possibly even religion could help, depending on your beliefs (not mine, but I've seen it help))

They put me on generic ritalin, then ritalin, finally adderall

Fourth grade diagnosed, age 9, White.

Commenting on other writers:
My mother smoked too.
I did drift off in class.

I have A.D.D. Im Black & White. I am 32 and was diagnosed in college at the age of 19. I was a very smart child but they couldnt figure out why I wouldn't pay attention in class, I'd just drift off. It took forever to find out what my problem was. Grammar school was difficult becaue they didnt know waht my problem was, I wasnt hyper so they couldnt do the ritalin thing. Speculations say its the affects of children who are born to mothers who smoke while pregnant. The woman also gave me asthma. lol

I have 4 grandchildren the Dr. says have adhd. They are all of mixed racial backgrounds. I think that if a child doesn't fit quickly into the mold the teachers expect, they want us to drug them. It makes their job easier if they have some stoned out little robots in their seats.

It's bullshit, everyone has it now. Don't you know every kid that can't sit in a chair long enough has it. Or the girl who twirls her hair or looks out the window. Give me a break. Everyone wants a scapegoat to excuse their behavior.

Justin is white. He is 17 years old and was diagnosed when he first started school. With a little more research you will find that ADD is now known as ADHD. There are no longer two different disorders.

wow, funny but ur the only one with it. wait could u understand that?
