Does ADHD exist in Britain?

... and the united kingdom because i know i have it, however i cannot get diagnosed with it because the doctors in the uk are naive, incompetent and very close-minded! ???

duurr to the first answer btw, i meant as in oes it exist as a condition officially* i know it exists all over the world durr, but i was asking because from my experience the doctors in the uk seem to neglect that it even exists!

As one of the other posters said that the treatment can sometimes be worse than the condition.

If you are absolutely convinced you have it, you need to approach your GP from a different perspective - ask for a referral for counselling and support to be able to manage this - make it clear you are not looking for drugs.

Also, dietary changes can help some adults, ask if you can be seen by a dietitian.

One of the issues a lot of GPs have with these "wooly" diagnoses, is that they are increasingly being used as reasons for incapacity benefits...

Short attention spans aren't limited to the US. There are ways of handling and dealing with ADD or ADHD without ritalin or narcotics. I had ADD as a kid and the Doc wanted to prescribe ritalin but I wouldn't take it. That was 1981-2 so I'm sure there are more drugs out there by now. I did alright without the drugs. You just have to find constant stimuli and be challenged more to concentrate. It is a difficult thing to live with but you can turn it into a positive thing if you view it correctly.

ADHD is just American parents not controlling their kids properly and the Docs just wanting to sedate them.

Now I won't say this is true 100% of the time, but 90% sure. The other 10% it's probably just something else that no one feels like trying to figure out.

nope, there is no such thing, any old doctor can dope you up with sedatives so think yourself lucky they do not agree with you,it is all in the mind,or caused by your diet

lmfao , it exists everywhere, your doctor is just too stupid to realize it.

yes it exists all over the world
