any family member,,close 2 d affected person may also write,, how they feel abt their family member affected 2 it.. share as much as u can,, the difficulties,,and evrything..

i don't know if i would call it a disorder...but... anyway. hear is

my story of my adhd life. i think i was diagnosed with adhd

when i was around 8or9. i dont remember alot of things from

when i was young, but i'll tell you about my 'up to date' life.

For starters, i'm writing in double space because it helps

me keep track of the things that i've writen (i do this in school

to with my notes). With my adhd i have a hard time keeping

track of things. I'm always losing my keys, money, papers

and many other things. Paying attention in school is the

harderst. When ever i get called on the answer a question, i

feel bad becasue i wasnt paying attention. I would like to

say that home is far more relaxing. But no, when ever my

dad tells me to do something, i start to do it, but then i

get distracted with something and ...well...i dont finnish what

i am asked. And half the time, my dad tells me to do

something, then 2 seconds later i forget what he has told

me. so i have to ask him again. (then he gets mad) The

bigest issue with my adhd is the 'h'. i always have to be

moving. When im at wal mart and have to look at

something and stop, i would have catch myself rocking back

of forth just to keep me moving and not going "crazy". When

im sitting, my legs are always shaking (as they are doing

now. lol) and i ALWAYS have to keep my hands on

something. (playing with my pencil, messing with a rubber

band....or anything that will keep my hands from "being free".

Btw. the SMALLEST things distract me. (rubber band, an ant,

the class room next to me,...even a cup can keep my attention

for a long time). it may sound stupid, but that adhd.

oh,and one more thing. i tend to go on and on and on

about anything and i wont shut up (much like this) i think

i have writen way too much.lol

First I would like to say that I personally feel that this "disorder" is thrown around too loosely. As far as diagnosing it, they watch your behavior, and in my daughters case...I was asked a series of what I felt were generalized questions. Stuff like...does your child have difficulty sitting still during story time or does your child interrupt when people are talking....almost laughable in my opinion but of course my daughter is only 7yrs old and i dont see anything wrong with a child if they cant sit still during story time...Hell I must be ADHD because I cant sit still during a story especially if its one that doesnt interest me. I'm not saying that this disorder doesnt exist, im just saying that there are other ways of correcting the problem. Pills are not always the answer. I dont see why you cant interact or talk to someone who supposedly has "ADHD" they are people.

i had it and have been having it ever since i can remember. i know i'm waaay too hyper sometimes so i just dance it out on a daily basis to some good music on my ipod which helps tremendously. it hasn't really been a problem for me before. i stopped taking my meds a few years ago (forgot one day and the days that followed just didn't take it) and when i took them i felt like i was trapped in a box. but when i stopped, the real me emerged and i started making friends and being more social which is the exact opposite of most people i think but still. i was having some problems in school in the 5th grade (now in 11th and proud to be so) and my mom had me evaluated. nothing was wrong with me but i quickly found out i had adhd which didn't affect me emotionally in any way. i almost forgot i had it and i know it's normal and not normal at the same time and quite frankly, i don't care. LOL! but no treatment for me. i'm proving to my mom i don't need the medecine to focus in school and make the grades i want and she sees that michael is gonna be michael and not pill boy for the rest of his life and she's fine with it. although the meds did greatly enhance my maturity agewise which i think is a drawback. but other than that, i'm perfectly fine with having the disorder :)
