ADHD children are neurotic or psychotic?

For the most part, neither. I've seen some children with ADHD who are anxious or depressed because they feel that they are unable to control their symptoms or interact with children appropriately. However, a great deal of the children in this population have no depression, anxiety, obsessions, compulsions, or somatic symptoms.

Very few children with ADHD are also psychotic. Usually, psychotic refers to delusions and hallucinations. I have yet to meet a child with both ADHD and a psychotic disorder, like schizophrenia, but I'm sure there are some out there.

My professor called ADHD, attention addicted hyperactive disorder. Those children are the product of a society that is over stimulated by electronic media and permissive or absent parents who never taught them how to be focused and disciplined and to be responsible for their actions.

The problem is their focus. Their task focus is constantly distracted by the need for love, affirmation and direction that they never got at home. They feel very insecure and it comes out in their behavior.

However, I have two close friends whose children, in my opinion had mild autistic features, were put on meds and they are totally different children. They can focus and are doing better at behaving in school and at home with very few of the normal side effects of the meds. So for them it was a plus.

So I think you have to judge it on a case by case basis and have a correct diagnosis and treatment of the problem.

Neither. It is a scientifically proven bogus diagnosis. They made it up in the 50's so teachers could get unruly children drugged.

pyschotic. its bascially chav parents who cant bring up their chav kids properly and feed them chicken nuggest chips and kebabs all day and slob around eating sweets crisps and yes of course cider. its probably a real disease but made up around 90% of the time. i feel sorry for the REAL people who have it they dont get the help they need

I don't know what neurotic means but they aren't psychotic ... ADHD attention deficit hyperactive disorder ...its when they have a short attention span and they are hyper and have trouble with school

Who isn't neurotic and psychotic? We can all play any role that is convenient.
