I think my 10-yo-brother has ADHD or ADD?

Or aspergers. He has signs of both. I tried to get across to my mum by mentioning it casually, she got really angry and said "Don't be so rude!"

Some parents take this very personally, and you can imagine why. But it's not rude as long as it came from concern on your part. Some parents are in denial about there children because they want to believe their child is perfect.

Hi,

Most parents think that their child does not lie, does not cheat on math tests, and is not abnormal. Many times they are in denial.

I never needed to cheat on a math test, yet the other subjects are not so naturally easy to me.

It might be your brother is eating to much junk food, causing symptoms like ADD. Drinking to many soft drinks, to much junk food, cakes, ect. will give him blood sugar spikes, and as you know that is not good for anyone. He might even have some symptoms of diabetes.

Try to pay a little attention to his diet without his knowing that you are taking notes. Then see if he is making up a greater portion of his diet with super sugary things, or not.

After paying attention to him for a while, take notes if you must, and then present it all at once to your mum, and say something like this. It took you months to figure out that I had something wrong with me, and here is what 10 year old is doing:

List several things.

Show how this is symptoms of ADD or whatever. Tell her you are not being rude, just practical.

Good luck !

Print off your research and leave it where she will see it. You must have reasons for believing this, so prove it to her. She may have said those words out of guilt....maybe she senses something wrong but hasn't been able to put her finger on it. ??? I don't know, but I know siblings pick up on stuff parents sometimes don't.

try to get her to listen, sit down with her and tell her you are serious and you think he has a problem
