When will the ADHD war here ever end?

it's routine.
someone will ask a question regarding her child diagnosed with adhd, and then someone answers with pills, and then someone will debate that pills are just an excuse for lazy parenting, and then someone will say adhd doesn't really exist, and then someone will go on with it does exist, and then someone will say kids will just be kids, and so on and so on.
eventually, the original question won't ever be answered because the opinions have just escalated into a word war.
guess it will never end until someone changes the label ADHD into something else. lol!

The same time the spanking/circumcision/breast feeding wars end! haha
Never. Parents are an opinionated bunch. some are smart and just choose to express their opinions on their own children and others are self righteous and have nothing better to do than stir up trouble. Those people are idiots and should be ignored. Of course, thats just my own opinion. :-)

I really don't seeing the war in this type of disability ending. I know that the disability has been around for the last 28 years+ and I don't see it ending anytime soon. I know that you were mentioning about the medications, Ritalin and those other medications that they have out there are designed to calm down the child. With these type of disabilities, there is something that is lacking, and with the ritalin, it helps fit in with the pieces that are missing, and helps calm the child down. Just my opinion.

The internet is the most unreliable and inacurate place to ge information on conditions like ADHD. The people who post on here are usually not experts (except perhaps self proclaimed experts).

If you want proper information go to your doctor or read books about the subject. On the internet anyone can post an opinion and that is all it is, just an opinion.

I don't know, everyone has their own opinion. I lived and grew up with my brother who had ADHD. Funny thing... he did normal everyday silly stuff... that all boys do. And my mother didn't know how to deal with him. She still doesn't. As an adult with my own children. I think it was just bad parenting in my mothers case. And they had to find something to blame it on.

Honestly, like any kind of health issue... gotta do and use whats works the best for the individual person.

ADHD shouldn't be a lable... but rather a health condition that is treatable in many different ways.

When I was 20 I was having some problems and I was put on Adderall which is of course for ADD/ADHD. After taking it myself I can honestly say I don't care if my kids are climbing the walls I will never give them medication like that. It really is like crack.

Your child, how you raise them and their behavior are as personal as it gets and therefore elicit strong emotions that are not always objective or reasonable.

Your right i had a Mum mail me and ask what medication Thomas was on ...too which i replied he has Autism not ADHD ... seems people don't know what is what either when it comes to Autism ADHD
