What is the best medication for ADHD + Depression?

with the least amount of side affects...but still effective

nothing natural --maybe in the distant future, but unfortunately I currently have no time for that option.

Don't worry
I WILL go to my doctor for a prescribtion

I just want to know the best medication out there to discuss with her

Unfortunately, the medications for ADHD and depression often produce different results for different people. For example, strattera might be very helpful for some people but not for others. I had to give up on ritalin very quickly due to its side effects. However, ritalin has been very useful for others.

Another issue is that you did not mention your age. ADHD and depression can affect children, teens and adults. The medications that might help one age group may be counterproductive for another age group. Obviously, the dosages would also be different, with young children receiving much smaller doses than adults.

In general, the meds used for ADHD include strattera, concerta, ritalin, adderall, cylert, and various antidepressants. Some doctors like patients who educate themselves about medications. Other doctors do not. At least that has been my experience and the experience of many other people I know. If you really want to explore meds, you can google strattera, adderall, cylert, etc.

My diagnosis is major depressive disorder but not ADHD. So, unfortunately, I can't give you personal suggestions on which meds I consider the best.

I hope you consult with a specialist in ADHD or at least a psychiatrist. These docs would have much more knowledge on your issues than a general practitioner would. Find a doctor who really listens to you and does not just write out prescriptions.

Meditation. I have ADD and depression, it took less than a week to notice the difference and I felt better for it.

Most medications take at least a month or more to work.

Eat better, drink more water. The effects of this are noticed also within a week.
Keep your blood sugar lever, don't sleep too much, go on a walk and breath for god sake.

(depressed people and overly anxious people tend to breath shallower which make them more high strung and anxious.)

All of these factors above take less time than medication.

Its just life, and we are all in it for the ride. Have fun.

DO NOT ALLOW YOUR DOCTOR TO PRESCRIBE YOU LEXAPRO, IT DAMN NEAR KILLED ME,

Getting enough direct sunlight, (15-20 mins a day)
Exercise
A healthy diet
& enough sleep
And of course meditation helps a great deal.

The best medication is the one that both you and your physician agree works for you. This matter cannot be solved through yahoo answers.

fresh air, good diet & rest, working out
