What happens when you meet all the criteria for ADHD but symptoms started at age 13 not 7?

What happens when you meet all the criteria for ADHD but symptoms started at age 13 not 7?

ADD symptoms at 13. And not detected when you were 7. Could be the testing method. Could be the doctors interpretation. Could be a variety of things, but the hardest and sometimes the most worthless thing is to answer why. It would be more productive to say, where do we go from here.

If you are thirteen, then you have a high probability that you have gone through puberty already. Hopefully, you had someone to talk to about that.

If you have ADD, whether it was detected before, and you have gone through puberty, that usually means that you have it for life.

But, if you know that you have it, it is not a flaw, it is just a different way of thinking and of being. You know what you are dealing with. If you take stimulants, the majority of the time, you will lessen the effects of the ADD. You can also choose to not use meds and try to deal with your ADD on a behavioral level.

Either way, you need the support of technically competent Psychiatrists and therapists, and parents. Accepting people is a key.

The current formula has a few elements in it, like medication, support etc. But know that you will do fine either way.

If it makes you feel any better, I am 55. I found out 2 years ago that I had ADD. I questioned everything as I was growing up and as I went through my adult life. I wish I knew what was at work. My life would have made much more sense.

You know about it. And your generation talks about these things. You are in a better place,

Good Luck,

tjp

That means you are 7years old in ADHD years. So, start now in their 7 year old chart and see what happens when you turn 14. Are you going to get more Attention Deficits or Hyperactivity Disorders. Do you have twice as much symptoms now than you had when you were 7? Hmmmm . . .

Everyone meets the criteria for nearly every disorder or illness. Thats why you have to go to a doctor and not the computer. Probably nothing wrong with you.
