So my nephew has ADHD and was prescribed methylphenidate. This medication was working very well for the 2 years then all of the sudden Kaiser decided not to carry this brand and switched him to something else after taking this medication for 3 months we went in for a refill and low and behold the no longer carry this med so we have to put him on a new med again well this has happened a total of 5 times in the last 1year and a half 鈥?the problem: he says none of the meds make him feel right and by the time he starts to adjust they switch it again.. Has anyone else had this problem with Kaiser? Is this legal??? We have had his doctor mark on the prescription that he cannot have substitutes but then the pharmacist always says it鈥檚 the same medication but it just has a different name鈥?ewww im so sick of it

Is the doctor writing a new prescription each time the medicine changes? Have you called to ask your doctor about this?

Methylphenidate is available in many different forms, including Ritalin, Concerta, Medadate, Methylin and Daytrana. What did it say on the original prescription? The doctor probably used one of the brand names, not the generic. What medicines has he taken?

If the pharmacy is not giving you the right prescription DON'T PURCHASE IT. Call your doctor. No one should ever take a medicine if they're not sure what it is.
