I know i have adhd but my mom doesnt want to put me on medication please help me?

I am 15 years old and my mom is saying that she doesnt want to put me on medication. She never gave me a reason accept that i want you to do it during the summer. To me that doesnt seem like a good plan. I always am figiting with something and chewing on something i have to constantly be moving and its affecting my grades to an incredible extent. I was an A-B student and now im a C-D-and F sometimes. I have taken 2 tests online both saying a have a hight chance. One of the tests says if your score is over 70 then you have a high probability of ADHD my score was 103 now hmm thats something to think about ive showed her forms about adhd and yet the answer still remains NO please help!

You don't know you have ADHD. That is the first real problem. You can't even consider medication until you know for sure. An online test is the worst possible diagnostic tool for ADHD. Because it relies on self reporting of your own symptoms. People with true ADHD are less aware of their behaviors and tend to under report them. And may score on these tests like they are normal. People without ADHD tend to view their problems on a larger scale and score higher, most people who take these tests will be told they have ADHD. But ADHD is a serious brain disorder and only a small percentage of the population hae this disorder.

The only way to know for sure is to get a proper diagnosis through your doctor. This will take several weeks if it is done properly. It will include interviews with you where the doctor can observe your behavior, interviews with your parents to find out your behavior history, a full medical examintaion and some other tests.

Also the fact that you were once a A and B student is a sign that you don't have ADHD. ADHD is an inborn condition, it does not develop later on in your life. Unless you have had these problems from the very begining then it isnt ADHD.

If you want to convince your mom just let her know that you would like to go for an an evaluation. It does not mean go on medication. It is just to find out if you have this condition or not.
