ADHD is simply one type of ADD. ADD is a cluster of symptoms such as distraction, inattention, and impulsiveness. When hyperactivity is added to these symptoms the diagnosis changes from ADD to ADHD or ADD with hyperactivity.

They are both treated the same way however. A protein diet, exercise, vitamins and supplements, a self-disciplinary activity such as martial arts, and education and ADD rules or protocol is used. In addition a stimulant such as Ritalin or Adderall or ADD-care, which is a natural supplement that rivals the stimulants is used.

The condition is called ADHD - this stands for attention deficit hyperactivity disorder. What it is, is an electrical problem in the brain. The part of the brain that is responisble for helping you to focus on tedius tasks, control your behaviour and your activity level has abnormally low levels of electrical activity. So you end up with problems with concentration, behavior and hyperactivity.

There are two main types of ADHD. One is ADHD prediminaly innatentive type, in this people have only the problems of concentration and learning and not the problems of behaviour.

Then there is ADHD hyperactive/impulsive type and combined types. Where you have behaviour problems and hyperactivity as well as concentration and learning.

ADD _ stands for attention deficit disorder and it no longer exists. ADD was the old name for ADHD which was used in the 1980's. The name was changed to ADHD in the 1990's. Some people still use this old name to describe ADHD predominatly innatentive type because they find the new name confusing for someone who is not hyperactive at all. But in medicine and science the term ADD does not exist anymore. The term AHDH never existed.
