Does ADHD can be inherited? I need to correct one of the above posters. ADD/ADHD is a mental disease. It is not simply a personality trait. It is listed in the DSM as a mental disease. Yes, it can be inherited. Research has now prove it. It's a personality trait, not a disease, but it appears to be a disease because it doesn't fit in with our complex society. And it is inherited. According to wikipedia, it has a 75% strong genetic component. So it could be inherited if certain genes are passed on to the child.
