Are add and adhd two seperate diseases?

Okay... are they seperate 'disorders'. You didn't even come close answering my question.

yes seperate disorders

Sort of. There are two types of Attention Deficit - hyperactive type and inattentive type.

ADHD stands for Attention Deficit Hyperactivity Disorder. ADD stands for Attention Deficit Disorder, which usually connotates the non-hyperactive kind of ADD called inattentive type.

When ADD was first researched and diagnosed, the usual abbreviation was ADD, not ADHD, as doctors did not recognize two separate types (hyperative and inattentive) at first.

ADHD is never used to connotate the non-hyperactive type (inattentive type), but ADD is sometimes used to connotate both inattentive type and hyperactive type. It's not really correct, though. Generally you want to stick with ADHD for hyperactive and ADD for inattentive.

They are not diseases. They are disorders or symptoms of an underlying issue. Always better to get to the source of the problem that is causing the symptoms.
ADD and ADHD can be caused by allergy, exposure to chemicals and toxins, depression or anxiety.
An elimination diet will help to identify any allergies. Maintaining a healthy diet and exercising daily will also help. It is very important to work with a Dr to find the cause rather than first relying on medication.

There are more misconceptions concerning Attention Deficit Disorder than any psychiatric condition I work with. ADD is the broad diagnostic catagory. It is a disease that is genetic in origin. If one parent has it it is 60% more likely you will and two parents 90%.

There are at least six different types of ADD and one of those is hyperactive type or ADHD. Allergies do not cause it, but sometimes the symptoms are similar.

It is usually treated with exercise, diet, vitamins, and either a stimulant or an all natural supplement such as ADD-care.

Until we understand the causative factors better, it would be difficult to say. "Disorders" are merely descriptions of symptoms. There could be a host of diseases hidden behind those two disorders with different causes and treatments, or there could be just one for both "disorders".

So, for now, there is no reasonably definitive answer to your question.

Yes, kind of. The second one includes hyperactivity as a symptom. Basically they are the same, but if you were hyperactive they would say you have ADHD. And they are disorders, not diseases which can be contagious.
