I have a 6 year old daughter who was diagnosed ADHD.? |
She has been on medication for the past 5 monthes the docter has up'ed her dose 4 times now and i finally said stop if this don't work shes done. Well for the most part it helps her but she has these sudden anger/emotional fits over the simplest things and I am so lost I don't know what to do for her. So i'm gonna try a natural way. Please if anybody knows of any natural ways to help ADHD let me know please. First and possibly most importantly Natasha and Cool Gal, How easy it is for you to sit behind a computer monitor and answer questions with such "Genius" (I use the term Loosely) answers as LOVE her more, or stop killing her spirit, well did you take into consideration what her life entails maybe she is single mother who works to pay for her and her daughters school? NO, that would be weird a caring mother trying to do all she can for her daughter and believing what an "Educated" doctor told her what a B**ch, she must just not love her daughter enough right? I have ADHD and I've never been on any medication ever!! This is something you can't get rid off you can only suppress it and if you do it'll get worse. All you need is patience. I'm a healthy, active person now. Kids with ADHD do NOT need medication its just who they are and they'll have to get used to it. So don't worry, just have patience and LOVE your daughter more. well i was diagnosed with ADHD when i was in 3rd grade and i remember have those symptoms. and im in 7th grade now and when i 1st started taking medication they had me at like 10 milligrams and they boosted me up 5 milligrams slowly but now i think im at either 20 or 25 milligrams and im doing well. im on adderal and it works good so don't be worried about that is will be fine and the docter knows what he is doing so let him do his thing and that is the best thing for your daughter. if u have anymore questions please feel free to email me at xoluvcvxo@yahoo.com I went thru this with my son - teacher complaining constantly that he wouldn't sit still, so we tried the drugs, and I didn't like the changes in his behavior. Would you believe that a cup of coffee in the morning helps him focus? It's true, and he enjoys sharing that time with me. I know, everyone says that coffee for children this age is not right. So, really? So is stuffing our kids full of chemicals that effect their brains. It's a matter of opinion. It's worth a try. There are many different kinds of meds. she can take. My son was on Ritalin. and it worked great fro him. It took about 3 try's with different meds to find one that worked for him. He started when he was 7. That was 27 years ago and i know that there are alot more drugs to use. Good Luck. As far as natural ways I know that there are books out there for this try a natural food store. I was in the same boat with my daughter, and the natural behavioral methods found in this article really helped her - with no medications. She is now well-behaved, gets straight A's, and my family has some peace and quiet. She's like a different kid, it's truly amazing! And you fell for it like a naive mother didn't you? Come on lady! Every child at that age is hyper. That's normal! Just because they are like that doesn't mean they have some learning difficulty!! That is absurd! my mum refused me medication http://ezinearticles.com/?Are-There-Any-... There have been several books written about natural ways to control/manage ADHD. If you go to a website such as Chapters you will find some. I have listed a few links below to some books and web sites. Your local library should have several titles so you will not have to buy them all. Don't believe everything you read on the web about ADHD. There is lots of good stuff and lots of trash. My son had ADHD and we used a book called, "Allergies and the Hyperactive Child", by Dr. Doris Rapp - online booksites, used book. I found my son reacted to many foods. One which caused a lot of problems for him was anything made with peanuts, peanut butter or peanut oil. He, too, would have a temper tantrum for seeminly nothing, and even when there was something fun to do in just a little while. It was very frustrating for me. I could always tell if he had eaten anything with peanut products in it, including chips cooked in peanut oil. You might be wise to read the book, and in the least, try cutting peanut products out of her diet. Of course, she might react to something else, but this would be an easy one. We did not use medications. We did try to be very positive with him, always understanding he was trying to do his best. But if he misbehaved, he had to go to his room, no matter how much noise he made, while up there. He was left alone during that time, until he settled down on his own. Then we could talk, calmly. |
