Anyone granted a waiver in Air Force for ADHD? |
My husband is an Airman who recently graduated from Lackland and is awaiting approval (or denial) of his ADHD waiver before he will be given orders to go on to tech school. I was wondering if anyone here has been granted a waiver for ADD/ADHD or knows someone in the Air Force who has. I know it's case by case, but I was hoping for some sucess stories while I wait for his news so I can think positive because he REALLY wants to stay. Thanks! the air force DOES grant waivers. You who said they do not are ill informed. I have known people who were enlisted and recieved waivers. My husband has also seen other Airmen recieve waivers while he has been in 319 and while he was in basic. If you don't know what you are talking about , please don't answer the question. thanks! Wellll unfortunately he made it known to them that he is ADHD. Any psychological related issues tend to be a big deal in the military and are better left unsaid. However ADHD tends to be attributed to people with a higher intelligence and may just work in his favor ;) but that's my perspective hopefully the people granting the waiver will feel the same. I do believe that ADHD would be considered a minor issue and I truely don't think he should have any problem getting it waived. Good luck to him! During my time in the service, I never heard of anyone being required to get a waver for ADD/ADHD but again this is not a condition that was known until more recent times. Some one really screwed up! If he was going to be given a waiver they should have done it before he went to basic. Why send him to basic if only to be denied the waiver. He should have never went to basic in the first place. They should have made a decision first. The AF does not grant waivers for anything... That's what i also think. the waiver should have been granted or not granted wwwwaaayyyy before he went to basic. he shoud be fine if he already graduated then his waiver is for sure coming. they would not have wasted thousands of dollars on him to send him to basic and then DQ him good luck |
