My son 5 years old with mild ADHD does not sit in class.he can read words& type in computer but do not answer? |
he doesnot like writing.he follows apattern.speaks only broken sentences.speaks what he hear in TV esp.advertisements.he has problem to seperate from parents.please advice. You should get him evaluated, but there are other things you can do for him, too. Make sure you spend a lot of time with him. If he is not speaking as he should, get books that label items and look at them with him. Point out the items and speak the words. Get a book about something he is really interested in and read it with him. If he likes trucks, get books about trucks, books with lots of different types of trucks, etc., and help him to develop his language with all of these things. Talk to him, often. Make sure to model good language patterns to him. If he says something that is not correct english, or does not make sense, politely repeat it the right way, or say, "Did you say you want a popsicle?" (Maybe he said, "I want popsy". Don't demean him, but HELP him. Engage in a lot of talking with him, spend time with him. Turn the television off. Turn the video games off. Turn the computer off, except for a reward for some things you need to see him do: studying, chores, cooperating, etc. Get lots of books and make sure you are with him and read them WITH AND TO him, and make sure they are books and subjects he will enjoy. Get projects involving things he is interested in and engage his hands in this manner. Check this out and see if it helps you with answers. You should definitely take him to a mental health doctor for testing. He may not even have ADHD. Teachers don't always know as they are not doctors. Get an appointment with your pediatrician (let him know concerns ahead of time so you have time to talk it through)...he will be able to recommend a neurologist or other specialist for further evaluation. have him evaluated for autism. he has some signs of it. only a physician would know for sure. my nephew has a few of your son's symptoms and he was diagnosed with autism. i know that you can have varying degrees of it. you can look up autism on wikipedia.com also. The techniques found in this article really helped my son, who was experiencing the same problems. he might have autism or selective mutism Sounds like he might have a slight case of autism. take him to saint Jude's hospital for a free evaluation, he needs some professional help |
