Does a person with depression, adhd, and bipolar (all at the same time) still have a hope to be normal?

and live a normal life?
how do i affirm myself without having a hard time
(already tried seeing 3 different psychiatrists, didnt help nyway)

I dont have the same problems as you but I do have a variety of mental health problems (diagnosed with depression, social anxiety and BPD traits).

I think we can definatley live a "normal" life, but we just have to adjust things so that they are managable for us. I like Rethink's defination of recovering, and I think it kind of helps to put things in perspective:

"Recovery can be defined as a personal process of tackling the adverse impacts of experiencing mental health problems, despite their continuing or long-term presence. It involves personal development and change, including acceptance that there are problems to face; a sense of involvement and control over one's life; and the cultivation of hope and using support from others".

I have my own flat and about to start a new, decent job but am starting to accept that I may always be alone relationship wise. Most people are put off by mental illness and I find the dynamics of any kind of relationships difficult, possibly cuz of my BPD. Im happy and content with most aspects of my life though.

I dont know if you are on any medication at the moment, but if you're not or the ones you're on arent helping you you should go to your doctor and ask to try something else. I've found being on the right combination of meds has made a *big* difference to my depression and really balanced out my moods. You could also ask to be referred for cognitive behavioural therapy, it apperently has a 70% success rate.

Good luck.

You do still have hope, but finding the correct mix of medications will be the key. You say you have seen three psychiatrists. Did you just not like them, or what? Did they prescribe medications for you? It takes time, trial and error to find the right medications for bipolar disorder. It will be helpful for you to keep a journal when you start taking medications, recording your daily moods and noting anything that might be a side effect. For example, if the doctor prescribes three medications and you find yourself feeling drowsy or drugged all the time, give it some time to see if that goes away. If it doesn't, you need to notify the doctor, who should adjust the medications at that point. But don't give up! Over the years I have taken dozens of medications. Some work long-term (I am stable now); others worked for a couple of years or a couple of months; others did not help at all or made things worse.

By the way, you shouldn't be diagnosed with both depression AND bipolar disorder. Depression is a part of bipolar disorder.

I do have all of the above. Medication is a very important part of being able to live a normal life, so is seeing a counselor. Normal is a hard term to put on anybody's life. What you can hope for is a life that has the quality your want. Then try to get as close to that goal as possible.

I recommend you check out this social networking community called LetsReflect.com. There are people there going through situations similar to yours. They are great for advice and encouragement.

The trick is staying positive and surrounding yourself with positive people. You are capable of great things! I believe in you. Best of luck.

i've suffered depression and adhd.. but not bipolar. my docter put me on stratera.. which has really helped!! (for the adhd.)
for the depression, join a team sport, or somthin like that to make you feel good about yourself! make sure you hang out with ppl!!
and for the bipolar, medication!

hahaha i have all three too.
im doing alot better now because of the medication.
i used to think i was weird and everyone made fun of me
and could tell i have problems. but i feel better about it now.
you just have to realize everyone has problems.

I'm sure you can, You just have to keep trying to find someone that you are really comforable with plus whom willing to be more understanding with you.

You might have to go some meds to help to control it and all..
Good Luck

positive approach works along with right treatment - you may have to take medicines for long to see results.
