Why are you not suppose to open up the Adderall XR pill before you use it? (ADHD medication)?

I have an Adderall XR pill
the prescribed medication for ADHD

and i was reading about it and on the internet it said you weren't suppose to open up the capsule and take,
unlike Ritalin which you can open up and sprinkle it on your food.

I was curious why you weren't suppose to open up the capsule
because I was planning to open it up and take half, instead of the full dosage.

like it was said before, it defeats the purpose of "XR". regular adderall is just a tablet, but the capsule is made for the extended release. it is suggested for those who cant swallow pills easily to pull the capsule apart, and sprinkle it on yougurt or applesause, but then they have to take a second dose in the afternoon before the extended release isnt there. it is a good idea what you are doing, half and half the doses, but, does your doctor know this? because opening the capsule and putting it on food is ideal for those who cant swallow pills. but yea, the whole, "extended release" idea is gone when that capsule is broken. good luck!:)

Why are you taking medicines which are in the same drug category as cocaine and methamphetamine for a bogus brain disease? It is scientifically proved ADHD and ADD were made up so teachers could have unruly children legally drugged. Dr. Breggin testified to this before congress.

if you open the capsule, you will release the medicine too fast. it is XR which means extended release. take the whole pill and it will last you through the whole day.

and don't open the capsule because you'll get too much at once and overdose. XR stands for extended release.
