Are their any long term side effects of taking adderall for ADHD?

Just curious of any long term negative effects of taking adderal daily as perscribed by a doctor. Thanks!

Does the stimulant effect of adderal cause an long term cardiac effects. I know on the short term it can increase your resting heart rate, but are there any serious changes on the long term that could be life threatening?

Yes there are. You are taking a psychostimulant drug. There are short term and long term effects of prolonged use of adderral. The short term effects are:

* Fatigue
* Headache
* Loss of appetite
* Diarrhea
* Dry mouth
* Nausea
* Anxiety
* Dizziness
* Insomnia
* Weight loss

The long term effects are the same usually accompanied by some hallucinations if you are dependent on it. I would suggest taking as little as possible and try come off it.
Not all these effects effect everyone. You may only have one or two, or maybe even none at all.

Any time you are taking medication to curb your psychological/social symptoms, you run the risk of dependancy and negative side effects. Dependancy is a negative long term side effect in itself. Many people learn to cope and deal effectively with their ADHD either with no medication or by gradually weening themselves off of medication under proper supervision of course. If you are not currently in some type of counseling or actively doing something to work with your ADHD besides medication, I would not anticipate many successful results without the medication and potential long term complications.

All of what the person above said is so true. Trust me. Ask your doctor to switch you. You will experience almost everything on the list that person posted. I know numerous people including myself who are on or have been on it and experience almost all of that.
