What is the difference in reactions from adderall between someone who has ADHD and someone who doesnt?

I tried one of my friends 30mg adderal pills today because I have for a long time exhibited common ADHD symptoms without ever being diagnosed. From what Ive read, and heard someone who doesnt have ADHD is often stimulated to a severe degree where they exhibit a hyperactive streak, whereas someone who has ADHD and is prescribed Adderall, will find himself more calm, and focused, and without impulsive urges, and other common traits of ADHD. Today when I tried my friends pill, I found myself able to keep a single train of thought without veering off topic, and didnt feel the need to fidgit around or tap my feet. I also felt no need to smoke, which is an activity I do more often than not, because I'm bored and want to do something to keep my hands busy. The last thing I noticed was that for the first time since I got back from Iraq (last month) I didn't feel depressed all day. I wasn't necessarily over joyous but I didn't feel the depression standing over me either. I understand that this my reaction too Adderall cannot be counted as an accurate diagnosis for ADHD but, is my reaction unlike one that someone without ADHD would have, and should I perhaps have it looked into?

I also noticed that my heartrate increased enough that i had very tingly sensations in my scalp although not enough to affect my breathing or anything, and that all last night I was unable to sleep. I looked online and found these are common side effects of Adderall, does anyone know if those are side effects anyone on it can suffer even those with ADHD?

I have heared the same thing you have, and I have tried Adderall before (I dont have ADHD) It really make my heart rate sky rocket, it felt like I was on a really huge caffeine boost, I had a ton of energy.

So for you to be calm sounds like you do have ADHD, if you can't learn to focus your energy to control it I guess then maybe you should get it prescribed.

You may very well have ADHD...

I recently started meds for ADD/ADHD and I felt almost exactly the same effects, even the side effects. It gave me a sort of confidence that I didn't have before, I didn't feel so distracted or "fogged". Also, that lingering kind of ADHD-depression was pretty much lifted as well. It made me feel very driven to accomplish things, instead of just driven and going nowhere.

It did have effects of increased heart-rate and very hard time of sleeping. I stopped taking the meds for this reason, I also don't have any insurance so was only able to get four pills of it, being as I had to pay out of pocket. When I get insurance issues sorted, I am going to try to adjust the meds to not have so bad of side-effects.

Get an evaluation, if you feel that it is a problem for you, and if you had a positive experience on the Adderall, it could be a very worthwhile thing for you. ALSO, don't take anymore of your friend's meds, it is still drug-abuse and Adderall is highly addictive.

RESPECT to you service-man, I hope you can resolve this problem of yours.

if you don't have ADHD, the first few times you do adderall, you'll feel good. after a while, you need more and more and you will get mean...especially when coming down off of it.
i used to abuse adderall and ...whoa..never again.
my daughter takes 30mg for ADHD and it helps her greatly. there is no need to increase her dosage and it helps her to focus and concentrate.adderall just may work for you. you need to see a mental health specialist and tell them what you've told us. you just my get a Rx for it. good luck.
