What is the Number one tip you can give for a parent with two ADHD children?

I have two children 7 and 5 years of age who are ADHD, I need some really effective parenting advice, some positive ways that I can get my children to Listen the first time, stop getting so angry, and to stop throwing tantrums.....My 7 year old Listens pretty well, she has a hard time focusing, my son on the other hand gets very angry which is a trait of ADHD, how do I contain his anger, or how do I direct it? He likes to touch other kids in a way where he thinks he is playing, but the other children interpret it to be physically assulting, he needs to learn very quickly that he cannot touch others in that way, he his going to Kindergarten, this coming year, I am worried for him.....Help....

There is a book that I just purchased called Have A New Kid by Friday by Dr. Kevin Leman. He covers ADHD and how he also feels like it's over diagnosed...however he gives some of the BEST advice I have EVER read! Too much to get into, but it's all about consistency and children learning there will be consequences for their behavior and they have to be responsible for their own actions. Best book I have purchased in a long time with helpful advice. I'm pretty positive my daughter has ADD but I am trying new approaches before having to go with meds, and his advice has actually helped me and worked!!

Be consistent: That means discussing your expectations and consequences with them frequently, not giving them excuses for their behaviour and not backing down when they are throwing tantrums to get out of doing something. Kids with ADHD can behave just fine when their main caregiver is consistent with discipline and appropriate praise.

ADHD is a lie its called being a KID.....kids dont like to sit in classrooms and do something that is too hard for them...DUH....and now people want to shove pills down their throat for a lie.....just love them and dont give them pills

You should look up a Social worker to put some
steps into affect to rectify the problems with
having kids with this disorder.

ADHD is the biggest bs being passed onto parents these days. Discipline your kids, teach them how to act properly in public instead of of just forcing pills down their throats so that they'll shut up.

pay very close attention to their diet- healthy well balanced meals promote healthy well balanced kids, fill your kids with sugar and crap and not enough nutrition and you are just adding to the problem. Also limit television and and keep a very tight schedule, kids with ADHD do much better when things are very predictable and structured, it helps them stay focused, when there is too much chaos in there day it just stirs them up and leaves too much room for acting out. these are just a few suggestions to help. good luck.

there are many things you can do,first of all yours are to young to worry about meds for it,they won't put them on anything till they're a certain age anyway, and all children and parents are different, may or may not be for your family, anyway, map out a routin and schedule and stick to it,cut out as much chocolate, caffeine, and sugar as possible, also try to cut out red die, limit their tv during the wk and limit their video games to the min, even if it is like the v-smile,it hypes them up worse, there are web sites you can look up to,i wish you the best
