Anyone had their child on FOCALIN XR for adhd? |
My child was diagnosed with adhd last year when he was 4, he is now going on 6 and we have just began to put him on medicine for it, b/c he has Impulses really bad and tends to get into trouble at school alot for doingthings before he thinks. He has an incredible intellegence, and has been labled "gifted" but he has a hard time in school. His peditrician give him FOcalin XR ( second med since Vyvance was horrible) Today is his first day, he complians that it makes his throat feel funny and he feels tired...his doc said theis will wear off after a few dyas...anyone out there have an expierience withthis med....does it wear off or should i pull him off and change again? I was taking Focalin and Vyvance together for my ADD and my little brother was taking Focalin for his ADHD. It takes it a week to get used to the way it works! I was never hungry for lunch or breakfast if I didnt eat before I took it. Vyvance isn't horrible but maybe take a trial week and see if taking both Focalin and Vyvance will work out better than just one or the other!! I was taking Focalin and Vyvance together for my ADD and my little brother was taking Focalin for his ADHD. It takes it a week to get used to the way it works! You could also have other things going on that might be distracting to most people somewhere in the classroom.
