Go to doctors or not to go re ADHD/Army?

I had a bit of a Eurika moment when I realised all my problems with procrastination distraction lack of focus inability to concentrate or finish things throughout my life was due to ADHD or ADD. Its great I now know finally, and can do something about it!

However im just about to start a carreer in the british army and they do medical checks and there stance on ADHD is that you have to be off Medication for 3 years in order to join up and im sure it would count against you if you were diagnosed with ADHD as far as selection is concerned!

So do I go to the doctors and get some long overdue advice and medication which I probably need and sacrafice 1 of my lifetime ambition of joining the army. Or do I stay off the medical records dont get the advice or medication and try for the army and continue to struggle against ADD?

Note changes in diet/natural treatment etc dosnt have much affect and ive left it quite late to join the army so its now or never!

Kind regards

well there is a few things you can do, one being forget about the army and sign up once you have things worked out. the other is wait until your in the army and then see someone about the ADHD/ADD. I do have to say coming from an army family they are not to keen on anything to do with mental health stuff.
take care good luck

My first question would be how old are you? If you are still young enough, my advice would be to put your military career on hold if only for a short time, go to the doctor and get the help and meds you need to take care of your situation. If you were to not to go to the doctor and tried to hide it and the army found out, it would most likely go on your record that you lied about a medical condition and that might haunt you for the rest of your life when trying to get a job outside of the military.
