Mom refuses to get me tested- I think I have ADHD?

I've noticed that I have difficulty staying on task, paying attention, and following directions. I often rush through things, forget a lot of things, don't pay attention to detail, make careless mistakes, and try to avoid doing things that make me use effort.
The person who administered my test at a place for tutoring (I suck at math) remarked that I was quite hyper, and often asked me if I had to get up and get a drink, and had to explain a few things several times to me.
I've been reading things online, and think I might have ADHD. Even if I don't, I would feel a whole lot better if I was tested.
Every time I mention this to my mom, she gets all huffy, apprehensive, and usually starts to yell at me, and refuses to get me tested.

Does anyone have any ideas to help me to reason with her?
Do you guys think I might have ADHD as well?

I mentioned testing to my mom just now, and she said that "I don't have it and never will. You're just f*cking lazy." and she thought it was because I wanted to get high off of Ritalin!

It sounds like many ADHD characteristics. I don't know how old you are but if you want to get tested, your mom should let you get tested. Maybe she is scared to hear the diagnosis. But she should let you get evaluated. When you know the diagnosis it helps to treat it and deal with it better!

I have no idea what ADHD is, but if your mother is not letting you do this, try some other ways. Do your research, find out what you need to find out, and present your theory's in a nice format. You can read off a sheet if it makes it better. If you really want to do this, she shouldn't stop you. If she continues, see if you can tell someone else, and ask if they can help you to ask her to get tested.

I think you have ADD not ADHD. I have add and take medicene to stay on task. My mom made me get tested and im glad I did. Because if I didnt I would be failing in school. Talk to her and say that you could be doing bad in school and need medicene to focus.

if i were her i would test you. i have 3 kids with adhd out of4. they take adderalll and ritalin and they help them they are foucs and they are much better behave

Talk to a counseler or teacher at school.

ADHD is fake. Its a made up disorder from the pharmaceutical companies so they can rake in more money.

You probably do have ADHD. Get tested.

Im gonna set things straight here

-1) get tested and remember its not a disorder but rather a different style of the brain collecting information that doesnt match the way they teach in school. Also the hyperactivity is not really ADHD if you are just tapping your foot constantly or something small like that. If you have the mentality that it is a disorder then get it out of your head now because that is the biggest bs in the history of pediatric diagnosis.

2) Only certain things are hard to stay on task and they are the things that involve blocking out your surroundings to focus on one thing like reding a novel. Commonly, staying on task revolves around the person's discipline which is rarely effected by add but can be effected more if it is ADHD. H*ll, it doesnt stop me from being on JROTC color guard (the guys that hold the US, State, and Unit flags) which requires a large amount of berring and discipline

3) This is somewhat true. There are a bunch of dumb*ss kids who are misdiagnosed most of the time that use it as an excuse as retarded as "the white man is keeping me down". Parents also use it as an excuse that they arent bad and that they are some knid of noble parent dealing with a kid with a "handicapp" which is BS. DO NOT BECOME ONE OF THESE KIDS!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

4) Kids with extreme hyperactivity do improve their behavior with treatment but that doesnt mean go directly to meds. Try coping mechanisms for a year or two first. They will tilt you more to the information collecting function that schools work towards in education.
Meds will help to but try them as a last resort.

EDIT: You cant get high off ridilin and there are other meds like vyvance but you shouldnt go directly to meds in the first place. Your mom is one of the many idiots who learned about ADHD through that funny south park episode and sources that give the same message but the problem with the sources is that they didn't accurately portray what ADHD really is but the rare sterotype of it. Also, tell her that getting treaatment isnt going to allow you to become more lazy than you already are IF you are so the her laziness bs is all as I said "BS"
