My GF has ADHD. How can i deal with it? |
My gf of 4 months has ADHD. I care for her very much and want to be there for her. She is in her junior year of high school, and i graduate in june. She is smart person and has a ton of common sense. She has a hard time concentrating at school and has no desire to do homework, while i prefer to study before tests, she prefers not to. It's working for her now, but i keep trying to tell her that it WON'T and CANT be that way in college, but she decides to ignore me. She has a twin sister who also has ADD. I get the feeling she doesnt have much passion for things such as school. She is very passionate about being with me, id like to see that same fire for other things too. I feel she is very irresponsible a lot of times. All her life, everything has been handed to her by people such as her parents and now me. I get frustrated when I say something about her doing her schoolwork and she uses her ADHD as a crutch and says I just dont understand. I have searched and read about ADHD. I want to be more understanding, but at the same time, I want her to work harder and find her own way to win against ADHD. Do i tell her that i can no longer be with her, or stick with it and try to work things out? You're a jerk! That would be a very rude and inconsiderate reason to dump her! I hope you feel guilty! In fact, I'm telling her that you said that. you just need to find a way that she would understand but no you don't brake up with her because of that. talk to her parents a lone to understand it more. |
