How will ADD/ADHD affect my future?

I recently got prescribed aderall because of my inability to pay attention and what not (doctor says its probably ADD) .

Im 21, and im just wondering since i have been diagnosed with ADD, will future employers for good jobs not hire me because of it? (im trying to become an electrician, im almost done with the pre-apprentiship part, jsut have to go in for interview in a few months)

please help! spammers will be reported!

well, if u can actually go to yahoo and ask this question, i guess u have enough attention span. o.O yeah it'll effect you, but u should be fine. cause i've heard normal people having problems with their jobs. good luck btw.

I was going to tell you just don't mention it but being a electrician you'll be drug tested somewhere along the way and wouldn't want to chance saying you take no drugs and having a dirty test due to the prescription your on. Otherwise I would say its none of their business. Still, I don't think employers have had enough adverse experience with adult adhd folks to have a bias against it. Regardless, you have it, will have to disclose it and let the chips fall where they may. Don't worry about it now. Why? Its not going to help to worry but, in my opinion, could cause you harm by making you look nervous and not as confidant as you would want to look if you really want to impress them. Know what I mean? Cross the bridge when you get to one that needs crossing until then don't worry about it.

There is nothing wrong with having ADD. I have lived with it my whole life. Just recently I have started taking Aderall and I swear it is like a miracle drug or something. Your future employer can not hold it against you. You are being treated and even if you were not their are millions of people who have it and are not treated and in the working field.
