My brother has ADHD is there anything in life that he can not do because of this disorder? |
My brother is 4 years older than I am. However he is extremely gifted. You see I was wondering because I always thought you can do anything you want if you're a hard worker and smart enough. I have no idea why he'd end up a teacher of all things, but no, there are recommendations against sugar and caffeine or messing up your sleep schedule, but nothing you can't do. This only means that he must work harder to focus and has a harder time sitting still. Medications can make a huge difference in a student's ability to focus, learn and get good grades. However, medications do have different chemical make-ups; so if he's not happy with a medication, he should ask to try a different medication with a different chemical make-up. Sometimes a medication dosage just needs to be changed. The goal is to retain your same vivacity and personality, but focus better. If a medication leaves one is a zombie state or lifeless, then change medications. Also, these medications can take away one's appetite significantly. If he's on meds there will be certain jobs that he will not be able to get, ones that require a high degree alertness and focus. The up side of that, though, is it is possible to be weaned off of the medication and then he could get those jobs that he couldn't have gotten before. People with ADD or ADHD are usually very good a multitasking. My nephew was diagnosed with ADHD when he was little. Now he's a grown man and an Ensign !st Class in the Navy. The armed forces won't take you if you're on medication so he got himself off his meds and has trained himself to stay focused and on task. His next goal... I want to amend what you say you believe: You can do anything in life you want to if you can believe in yourself and are willing to work for what you want. Anything can be learned and if you don't want to learn it, there are always people who already know it that can help. Well, there is an illustrated book on internet - a book for parents whose kids were labeled with ADHD. It is very easy to read and it is very helpful. If you want to help your brother, let your parents read it and act on it. It is very easy and basic. One can read it in 3 minutes. Yes, of course, and i believe he can heal, also... dont hear that much do you? WTF? Do teachers suck or something? |
