If you are Dx'ed with ADHD by a civilian Dr while in military service will you be discharged? |
I have been in the Army reserve for two years and love it... but I have just this week I was diagnosed with ADHD... I don't want to be discharged, but this is a serious problem with college. No, I doubt it will require a discharge for you. There are plenty of people who are diagnosed with ADHD who serve honorably. "Adderall " I doubt you would be discharged because of the condition, however I do think you could find promotions difficult if your unit were aware of it, also if you were subject to a drug test it may show up, then you would have to explain it to your unit. No win situation. I guess you could just adopt the don't ask don't tell mindset. No. I don't think they will discharge you for that. I'm not sure about working on the medicine though. They might have to re-class you...like i don't think you can load bombs on heavy medicine... ADHD is not a crippling disability; you can still oh look an ice cream truck. Discharged? That would be up to the Army docs. I dont think you will |
