What foods are in a high protien/low carb diet for ADHD?

My son is very hyper and always moving. He throws tantrums a lot in publin and runs all the time. I really think he may have ADHD cause it runs in the family. I dont want to put him on meds yet and also one of the meds i found out had patients die suddenly that had heart problems, which my son has. So i seen this diet thing and wonder if it works. Can anyone tell me about it and if it works and what the diet would consist of? I'm clueless

The diet mainly cuts all highly processed foods out of the diet... these are generally high in carbs and may be causing your son to be hyper...

I suggest you go to your local library and check out the "Atkins: New Diet Revolution" book to learn how to do the diet correctly...

Although the diet causes weight loss in the early stages, you will eventually reach the maintenance stage where you are eating enough carbs to maintain the current weight...

Another book you can try is "Protein Power"...

I high protein/low carb diet consists of , cutting out all the bad carbs like white flour , rice etc.Adding in good carbs like the carbs from fruits , vegetables , whole wheats , etc. And adding in High protein from meats etc. Any animal meat is high in protein as well as chicken and fish just make sure it's a lean cut of meat.

I don't have any experience in this yet I'd advise you to find a good a nutrition consultant/dietitian they would be able to help more then anyone on here.

I imagine since he's hyper and all that he would need a high protein/ high carb diet to keep from losing weight.
