Is playing with poop a symptom of adhd? |
My 7year old son plays with his poop, is that a symptom of ADHD and how do I deal with it? I have spoken with doctors, this is just a weird situation. He is 7 years old has been diagnosed with ADHD and never showed these strange acts till he was placed on the medication. I mean he was wild out of control but did not throw temper tantrums, anger issues, play with poop, break things that arent his until the meds, school will not accept him with out it. because he wont settle down. I am lost..... No. There is something wrong. You should ask a professional. its not a sign of ADHD though he is a little old to be playing with his escrement i suggest you start dicplining him and teaching him that its not a good idea. its perfectly normal thing in toddlers as they cannot understand that its un-healthy and all they know is that it came from there bodies. why not ask your child why he plays with it and think about having him tested for autism. 1- He is curious Its most likely a symptom of obsessive compulsive disorder. I wouldn't think it was autism. I work with kids that have all types of special needs, though my passion and education is in autism. This could also be strictly a behaviour related to ADHD. Kids are curious, but keep an eye on him. Encourage him to know that it is wrong and make sure he isn't torturing animals. If he does this, take a look at going to a psychologist. That might be a sign of a more serious problem. thats a symptom of being a 7-year-old. "OH Brother" leave it to a kid to come up with something new. its possible. It's only curiosity... Does he just stick his down in there or what? Probably needs help. And meds. No, he's just disgusting. mental adviser ? ( a good shrink ) thats not adhd I don't know, but it's a sign of something. Maybe try getting some of the special wipes if he is having trouble. Also show him exactly how to wash his hands so he can get it all the way off if he happens to get any on them, but try to find ways to help him get the job done without this added mess, use more toilet paper, etc. But does he possibly need a change in medication? Try talking to the doctor again, and tell him exactly what is going on so that he can assess the issues with the medication, other possible symptoms, etc. Check to be sure the excrament is properly formed - not too soft - problems in that way? |
