Is this epilepsy or adhd or stress???Help please.?

My son is 9. In Feburary he started to have what he called laughing fits. Basically uncontrollable outburts that last around 30 secs.He started off laughing then it went on to shouting ICE constantly then now just EEEEEEEEEE all the time. He spins around when he is doing it. He doesnt do exactly the same thing every time. He is pale and his eyes are blank and his heart racing but he is aware of them, during and after. He has upto 8 a day and 4 a night when asleep. He always wakes up by having a huge one.
His behaviour has also gone haywire. He constantly taps and jumps around. Runs up slides, hits out with sticks, he cannot sit still, even in the car, fiddles with all buttons, pulls signs down. He ignores all instructions and thinks he knows best. He tries to behave but just cant. He gobbles down his food and has to be in charge in all games. In the last couple of months he has stolen, lied, ripped others things, spat on the carpet, started a car, hit his brother, broken our things, thrown things out of the window, all with no remorse. We are seeing the pediatrician on Thursday but I really dont know how to cope with him until then.
Any ideas what it may be and any ideas on how I can manage his behaviour.
He has always been a bit hyper but always knew his boundaries and respected the rules. He was always loving and loyal and very aware of others feelings. Now he has a glazed look in his eye and doesnt seem to care.

It sounds exactly like ADHD to me. Although I didn't have ADHD as a kid, I have it now, and sometimes I wish I could do those things because of all the energy I have. (But of course I don't, unfortunately I don't have the exuse of being a child anymore.)

I recommend signing him up for counseling. I'm really interested in psychology, so I've asked my counselor about ADHD in children, the way your son acts sounds exactly like what she's told me. She's also told me a lot about kids with ADHD and how benneficial counseling can be to them. Just be glad you caught these things while he's young, because it's harder to deal with with teenagers. The best of luck to you.

Sounds like ADHD. my nephew has it and he is on ritalin and is fine now. Sounds like what he was like a few years ago!! He is fine but if he forgets his pills he goes like this and is uncontrollable and so impulsive, like a 2 year old you have to hide the matches and car keys etc even though he is 11. but he is fine now with medication.

Its not epilepsy thats for sure. Take a trip to the doctor and ask for advice, he might just have ADHD or be out of control, either way you need to take advice

There are a good few things that it could be but I doubt that any of them are epilepsy.

I don't really feel it is my place to speculate.

I would advice asking your paediatrician for a referral to a child psychologist. They would be the best at diagnosing the true problem and advising you on the correct action - they are the experts..

The good news is that all so called "behavior problems" come along with positive personality traits. By getting him help now you could be ensuring he have a happy and confident future. And saving yourself stress! Poor you.

It may be helpful to look at "miller mood mapping" in the mean time and try to help him identify his moods and feelings. No matter where they are originating from they are still there.

Help is always possible so try not to be dispondent. Go to the experts and get them to help you.

Good luck and take care
