Can/Should kids with ADD/ADHD should they be allowed to be in regular class? |
People classify people just on the way the act do you think people should classify ADD kids and ADHD kids? thsi was just asked-check my previous answer-- This is a very good question and one which should be debated more often. I think there is a wide range of behavior and attention difficulties with ADHD and having one answer would not be appropriate. I also think the a lot of ADD or ADHD children can blend into a regular classroom and would be in a situation that would be to their detriment to be separated from the rest of the students and classified as not able to do what normal students do. Many ADHD students are of exceptional intelligence and putting them into a separate classroom would be counter-productive. Besides - where would they be? In a class with special ed students, or in a classroom full of ADHD students? Some people with ADD are best in regular classes, with or without extra support, some need to go to special schools (that is actually what we call them here), some need one to one which for financial reasons often has to be provided by parents. I had to be home educated for about ten years, and am now taking my A levels (english university entrance exams) at college and school. 10 years ago special needs education was terrible. It has improved a lot. At my infants school the provision was mainly physical restraint, now laptops are provided, I email work rather than hand it in etc. I have ADD and Dyslexia and I'm in all regular classes. I had to fight with my guidance counsel and principle to be in them though and now I proved them wrong because I'm a B student. On the other hand if there is a serious condition of ADD/ADHD then they would not be in regular classes because they would be failing. 1) Most of the time ADD/ADHD children are in regular classes but it also depends on the severity. I think that this depends on whether or not they posess disruptive behaviors which cannot be handled by regular education teachers. If they can, they should be in regular ed. i think you can take dexies. ive got a different form of a learning problem which is kinda similar... |
