ADHD and an alternative solution? |
Recently i read an article written by a person who studies ADHD, ADD and its symptoms and he came to the conclusion that people(not only children) with ADD or ADHD dont have a lack of focus but more of a hyper focus. This means that when a child seems to lack the focus needed in school it is because they are in a hyper focus state for something they might find more interesting such as video games, TV, ect. He also noticed that adults wouldnt have trouble focusing either and infact would also have a hyper focus state wether it be work, or even relaxation. I am 17 and i was diagnosed with ADHD around the age of 7. i used to be Hyperactive but now i am more reserved. It is really hard for me to focus on any single subject(specifically school) and ever since i read the article on hyper focus it makes sense. I do have extreme trouble getting my mind off of video games, ect. infact, it sometimes seems as though i never get my mind off of it at all. Oh yes i forgot to mention that i can sometimes seem to have a photographic memory but other times i can forget something 10 minutes after it happened if that makes any sense. I absolutely believe in the Hyper Focus idea, for I have it as well. That was one of the reasons I did not get diagnosed until much later in life. People could see how smart I was in any area that I was interested in, but when it came to something I was not into, i.e. math, then I would not pay attention at all. So, everyone came to the conclusion that I was lazy, and I basically just went along with. I believed for years that there was just something wrong with me. I had a love for history, however, and could recite facts about politics and history like crazy. People could never call me dumb. Since getting diagnosed, I have gone back to school and am a 4.0 student now. Just having a hyper focus though is not enough. So much of life will be "boring" to the ADD mind, so the mind needs to be retrained to view many things as interesting. Meds are one of the many tools available to do that. Meditation, dieting, working out, jogging etc. will help just as much. But until you start treating things as interesting, or generally trying to take interest in other things, nothing will change. if you're on meds, you might want to discontinue them for a while and see how your mind changes after that. |

This covers every aspect of your life, not just the obviou... well you should get tested for it first then the guy will give you a perscription if you have adhd. this is not a kind if drug that should be played around with, it can really mess you up i gues...... The mind is a very complicated thing. If your husband never had rage issues before, and now that he is on an amphetamine, I definitely think that there could be a correlation.
