Could my baby have ADHD ?

if the father had ADHD can my baby get it too, or how bad is that for a baby.

ADHD can't be clinically diagnosed till around 7 years old (usually when the child starts school). It is genetic however you don't have to worry about doing anything in regards to therapy, meds etc till the child can be diagnosed. Until then, providing stucture in your home with clear rules and boundaries will help any child especially one with ADHD. When they are babies though, there is nothing different you should be doing. I wouldn't worry about it.

It can be inherited, but you can do some things to help your baby. ADHD is thought by some people to be provoked by diet. Sometimes sugar and over-refined foods can cause problems. Some think Candida Albicans can contribute to this problem. So, you may want to look this up: candida and ADHD. Then, try to keep your babie's diet more toward fresh vegetables and meat products, as well as fresh fruits. Try to avoid sugary drinks and snacks, as well as high grain/wheat product foods, and if your baby does not do well on milk formula, try soy or part soy and part milk formula (breastfeeding can cause problems if Mom drinks milk). Watch for diaper rashes that seem difficult to treat, more infections or ear infections than normal, etc. Consider using acidopholus for digestive balance, but first check with your doctor to be sure he does not entirely object: always a good idea to check with the doc - if no objections, then try it if you see diahhrea, rashes, colic, irritability, crying spells, spitting up. If the baby gets a bad diaper rash, ask for Nystatin cream.

I personally think ADHD is waaaayyy over diagnosed. Not saying there aren't people who have it, or that your boyfriend doesn't really have it, but I think it is just used as an umbrella diagnosis for spirited children. Very little is actually known about ADHD. It may be genetic, it may not. Just don't take your son running to the doctor if he doesn't like sitting still in class and would rather be out running around. That's called being a kid, not a disorder that needs treatment.

its always a possibility! but its also a possibility for neither or the parents to have it and for the child to have it! I honestly think it can be controlled if you work with the child young and instill a good behavior in them! i don't think you have to much to worry about! but to put your mind at ease why don't you just do a little goggling in your spare time! good luck and don't stress over it!
