How to judge ADHD from a child? |
it is my niece,her mother guess her daughter take ADHD,because my niece can't sit about for one minute.by the way,she is 11years old now. first ,thank you for your answer,and ,,i want to know,what is the clinical manifestation ADHD?for example:she is doing her homework,but at the same time,she will begnaw the pencil,or watching TV,or say something to herself,,maybe anything else.she can not do one things at one time always.never.if we have any methods to change it?we hope so!thank you~everyone Sorry, but if you want good answers you may want to slow down and reword your question because it is not very understandable. It sounds like you are wondering if your niece has ADHD. There is more to ADHD than restlessness. The inability to focus that affects school work. A lot of ADHD kids have problems or are stunted socially because they have a hard time at younger ages keeping up with the other kids during playtime. Not being able to sit still could be that she has had too much sugar or soda... you would have to have her evaluated by a doctor to see if it is a focusing issue. You can google: Symptoms of ADHD. They usually have a group of symptoms and if you have a certain amount of them, you may be in that classification. But, the true way to find out is to go to the doctor. They can tell her mother by their professional understanding. You can also look up books by Dr. Doris Rapp online. Very cheap and very informative through the used booksites. Also look up: ADHD and food sensitivities, ADHD and candida, ADHD and Leaky Gut. I DID have ADHD as a child. All children all hyper, and all children have trouble paying attention. Very few can sit still for a minute. I think it becomes "clinical" when their hyperactivity and attention are jeopordizing their life. I.E. I failed sixth grade. I went on to make all A's in AP and HONOR classes in highschool, but in 6th grade I had something like 6 or 8 F's. The ADHD got to a point where I could not function in school with out medication. THAT is what I think adhd is. Not being able to sit down is just a childhood disease that goes away with age, I do not consider that ADHD. This article explains the diagnostic criteria for ADHD. |
