Is there any clubs/orgs for a kid with PDD, ADHD, mood disorder to join?

Ft. Worth, TX. My son is 15, many behavioral/learning problems. Doesn't fit into the "norm" of things to join. Since he is PDD he doesn't act like a 15 yr old and this tends to get him bullied. I cannot find a place or something for him to join and enjoy and be a part of something.

Ask his doctor or psychiatrist, they should be able to point you to any special groups or contact the PDD Association for information.

Due to the fact that ADHD children and teens don't always act their age, this can be difficult for them and for you, too. I found when I removed sugar from my son's diet, it helped a lot. Another thing was looking into food "allergies" or sensitivities. Peanut products and peanut butter were very difficult foods for my son. When he ate anything with peanuts, peanut oil, peanut butter, in them, he would be likely to have a temper outburst. Removing this from his diet, made a great improvement. Look into the elimination diet and any books by the author, Dr. Doris Rapp.

Also, please try to find out what his true interests are. Sometimes this is difficult to do, but worth it. If he has something he loves to do, then help him to pursue that and to find others who have that same interest, clubs, etc. As for groups, there is a group called: CHADD which is for people with ADHD or parents.
