I have adhd and my mom wont let me get adderall. What are your opinions on caffeine pills?

I zone out in school so bad. Don't get me wrong though, I'm brilliant, ADHD is just detrimental. My mom is afraid im going to abuse/sell amphetamines if they are prescribed to me. Caffeine is the only thing I've found to help me so far. Would it be safe to use moderate doses of caffeine to maintain focus at school?

Try Strattera. Its a non-stimulate adhd medication that is not habit forming.

To answer your question, I don't think anyone would recommend consuming a high level of anything especially something that will make you crash like caffeine.

I write about caffeine in my book, "Dear Mary: My Life with ADHD." I did not start drinking coffee or tea until i was in the workforce, and both immeasurably aided my concentration. You use the term moderate. Drinking beverages that have caffeine will allow you to stick to the moderate doses that you commendably seek.

Your mother is correct to question the prescription of Adderall, or any other ADHD stimulant. First, ADHD medications are a short term solution. Eventually, you will have to manage the symptoms on your own. Caffeine is a good start, but not in pill form.

I can attest that ADHD is detrimental in the classroom, mostly because of the structured environment and long periods of being sedentary. I found that I learn best in an interactive environment like the one I am participating in now. I can get up from my seat when I want to refresh my train of thought.

Do not let the frustrations of the education system keep you down. The brilliance of ADHD shines in entrepreneurs, artists, inventors, and explorers. You may be the next Richard Branson (Virgin Records and Airways).
