I am diagnosed with adhd inattentive type and good at math?

I have read that people with deficits in working memory are bad at math and yet i have adhd inattentive type with a digit span of 6 and am great at math. Why is this?

It's a catch-all. They are lazy doctors, most likely.

Doctors today are not the physicians like my grandfather was.

They are drug dealers.

They get huge perks from drug companies, and while they don't get direct (traceable) kickbacks, it is understood that if the drug companies are sitting pretty, they are quite generous.

What they do is they pigeonhole the kids who are smarter and more creative than the rest and drug them up to slow them down. More likely you were bored rather than challenged in your attention span, and you needed to find creative outlets for your energy.

The doctors don't want to spend all their time counseling the kids and the parents when they can make more money processing more drug orders.

The parents are overwhelmed trying to make ends meet and don't have the time or energy to meet the challenges of strong - willed, creative, intelligent children, and the teachers are too * * L A Z Y * * to care about the kids, so everyone wants them drugged into submission.

I was diagnosed hyperactive before they moved to the catch-alls of add and adhd. They stuck me on ritalin for much of my youth, and it wrecked my metabolism.

I could get along fine as long as I stuck religiously to the Feingold diet, which they are now trying to say doesn't work so they can sell more drugs.

Worse yet, whereas I could study and learn before without the drugs, I now need at least 3 cups of coffee before I am ready to think coherently. I have a 135 IQ, and I now can't think straight without some kind of stimulant.

I think you need a lawyer more than you need that doctor.

I'm dreadful at maths, but only because I'm awful with mental maths. If I carried a calculator with me everywhere I would be fine because I know my way around a sum, I just can't work out the answer! I find most ADHDers are amazing at things they love doing because it's often the only thing they can concentrate on and we love to hyperfocus on it! If you love maths then good for you! It's only a report and you could be an exception.

Also, to the people who think meds companies are labeling us, you try and live with it!! Meds have changed my life for the better and I'm proud to be a hyper, loud, mixed-up ADHD girl, with concentration in a bottle! X

How are you at English? Or current events? Not being sarcastic here.
I have adult ADHD and had it in my childhood. I was always good with numbers. Numbers use a different side of your brain than English and current events. So if you are good at one, you probably have to try harder at the others.
Good luck!

same and I'm bad at math. I find the only way i'm good at something if I am really, truly interested in it. Maybe you really like Math and find it interesting?

I guess you have a strong ability and hard working student. So, in other words you are just very smart. Plus, you take care of yourself.

cause adhd is just a 'label' they put on people
it doesnt mean your any different than anybody else
its just something they diagnose you with, so the person who is subscribing you the medications, gets paid

I have EMD (Expert Microsoft Disorder), and I am a perfectionist. You must take medication...

You don't have adhd most likely, doctors just like to say thats the case because its easy

I am diagnosed with ADHD myself and sleep threw math and pass.
