The true origin of aids?

Now we all know that AIDS is said to have been triggered by an African man who had sexual relations with donkey kong, but recently a straight friend of mine said that it may have been a disease created by the government (not particularly the USA) in an attempt to eliminate the homosexuals. Now remember my friend is straight as amm i, and i personally believe the monkey rape story we are all fond of, but i was just curious to see what others thought of this conspiracy theory.

A majority of scientists come to believe that it originated from Africa. The HIV virus has properties similar to the SIV (Simian Immunodeficiency Virus) that is found in monkeys. SIV has the same structure with HIV. Another similarity these two viruses share is that they are transmitted in the same way.

According to another research, the Royal Society of London had a conference to find out the cause of AIDS. In that event, they postulated that HIV became widespread due to natural evolution from accidental vaccine contamination and transmissions especially with polio vaccine. Polio vaccine was derived from monkey kidney cells that were later on proven to be contaminated. But this theory was discarded at the end of the conference.

That is what I found about it.

I've thought long and hard about this conspiracy theory...but that was in the early 90's!!

There is genetic evidence to the fact that a monkey and a human got together in Africa. HIV infection has changes alot since then. The HIV virus in african monkies now is alot different than the strain that humans in the USA have today.

I believe it was given to the Africans during relief efforts after WW2, for unknown yet purposeful reasons. Perhaps it was a test in viral warfare, since the war ended abruptly after the dropping of the a-bombs. It did not reach the states until well after, through sexual means. Which would fall in line with a reasonable time to spread into the states.

HIV was originally a virus in monkeys (SIV). It mutated and spread to humans somehow, although I don't know how that transmission occurred.

I do not believe that the USA or any other government created HIV.

well in the science books i have in school it says aids orignated if africa, a man was chopping a monkey up for food and the man had a open wound and the mokeys blood got in his open wound and the monkey had aids. Thats what is says in the books

As much as we would all like to push our problems on the government, that is one conspiracy story I highly doubt. Sadly technology just isn't there to create life sustaining viruses =/

another theory is that Aids came from "Chemicals" and not from Africa. i don't know what this means, but I heard it from an academic.

AIDs came from monkeys and it carried over to humans.
