will an aids person that talks and spits and me alot cause me to have aids? what if there were sores in my mouth? HIV (virus that can lead to AIDS) is not transmitted by saliva. It can be transmitted by blood, semen vaginal fluid, and breastmilk. Once outside the body, exposed to air, HIV only remains infectious for a few minutes. HIV does live in saliva or urine, unless there is blood in it- which there shouldn't be if you are healthy. Only a couple minutes, not very long to my knowledge.
