How would i use visual aids for a speech on legalizing prostitution?

im doing a persuasivespeech on why prostitution should be legal and i need visuals but how do i do that, i dont want pics of half naked women really, please help matur answers please. thanks!!

How about pie charts or graphs showing the rate of STD's in the US as opposed to country that have legalized prostitution. You could also show graphs of how much revenue it brings in for the country in taxes. Perhaps show how much of the police departments manpower is being wasted on rounding up hookers and pimps. Show statistics of injuries that could be prevented if prostitution was regulated by the government. Hey, Im on a roll. Oooh you could show pictures of unsafe work environment such as dangerous streets where they patrol . I'll think of more.

You should probably use pictures related to the argument that you're going to give.

Why do you think prostitution should be legal? Pictures should be related to your answer.

PS- The asker said her speech is about why prostitution should be legal (allowed by the law). What's the advantage of showing pictures of abuse? It's not helping her argument. Even if you disagree with the point she's trying to make, the point can still be made. If it's wrong, it could be countered, but no need to bar it from being made in the first place.

Also, I think some of you people watch TV too much. Prostitution is very commonly practiced by girls at clubs who want to make a little extra money. It's not always something pimps have hookers do on a street corner in a major city for passers by. Then there's escort services, brothels, money play, etc. Take the TV a lil less seriously. :P

Showing pictures of bruises and black eyes and other physical injuries is a step in the right direction, but a bit gratuitous for a speech class... You run the risk of getting a bad grade because your teacher thought it went over the line or something. I don't agree with that reasoning, of course, but just be aware that if you do this, it's a risk you take.

A "safer" route would probably be to stick with graphs and pie charts that show statistics on abuse or incarceration rates. Or, if you really want to add a personal touch to the sex industry, walk up to some streetwalkers or call girls and ask them if you can engage them in a conversation and take pictures as you do. You'll get the reality of having talked with actual prostitutes, and gotten their feedback on their jobs, but without all the exploitative undertones that injury photos have. It's more tasteful.

EDIT: "Also, I think some of you people watch TV too much. Prostitution is very commonly practiced by girls at clubs who want to make a little extra money. It's not always something pimps have hookers do on a street corner in a major city for passers by."

Well, Mr. Beep, if you must know, I actually considered suggesting to the asker that she talk to some strippers about their profession, but I decided against it, as stripping does not necessarily entail prostitution. In fact, some strippers might even become OFFENDED at the accusation that they are having sex with clients for money simply because they dance around topless in bars. I am well aware that it happens, but I did not want to imply anything finite about strippers when all we have to go off of is this flimsy correlation.

So you have to argue the affirmative? What are your key points in favour of legalisation then? (I'm trying to think of some)

OK, probably the most persuasive would be to say that since it's going to happen anyway it's safer in a controlled environment, health and safety concerns etc.

So there is the option some have mentioned, of showing pictures of prostitutes who have been beaten up etc in an unlegalised situation.

Or there is possibly a more positive approach showing statistics or maybe pictures from a country that has legalised prostitution, and trying to claim that HIV infection or violence is thereby reduced.

I would stay away from opinion-based arguments such as the claim that it prevents rape (as though all men were potential rapists who have to get regular sex or they'll fly out of control) or that it's somehow healthy to act out fantasies. I'd keep it clinical if you want to score debating points.

Some images of life in a high class legal brothel and/or the life style of a high class call girl, compared to a street whore being abused by her pimp and customers, would make an impression to show why prostitution should be legalized. The girls are not going away, and "johns" are not going to disappear. Both need legal status and protection.

Seeing as how we're all suffering thru a recession (is it officially a recession yet? Idk. Whatever), maybe you could show photos of women standing in the unemployment line or photos of homeless women to make the point that it might help the economy.

Have you thought to ask one of the female posters on here to come in sort of like a show-and-tell aid?

If you need a pimp example, I can make myself free if you give me enough notice....anything to further a woman's education...

"He is I, and I am him, Slim with the tilted brim....what's my name fool?"

Happy Endings? is a documentary on the legal prostitution in Rhode Island.

Momof2's answer sounds pretty cool. To make it even more indepth you could bring in some statistics from the countries that already have legal prostitution.

Show pictures of track marks and other evidence of drug use. Many prostitutes become drug addicts and sell their bodies to support their habits.

give pictures of beaten women (the injuries) .... or just give a picture of her face and say "she was only 14 years old and she was murdered by her pimp" or something like that

try and use graph's. That or pictures of prostitutes that have been abused(like doctor photo's).

That would have the most dramatic effect.
