How many years takes to study acupuncture?

and how many years of practice?
is there demand for acupuncturist in the USA?

Hi - I am an MD who is married to an acupuncturist in Houston, Texas. You will need to have graduated college with a 4 year degree in something (depends on the program). Then, most acupuncture programs require 2 or 3 years of training, and sometimes, an internship in China or abroad.

We love acupuncture and believe in it strongly for our patients. Houston is a city of 4 million people and we have a very large Asian community here with a strong demand for acupuncture. Like any business, it can be hard to get started and you will have to figure out what fee structure works for you. Insurance will only pay for about 10% of your patients, the rest of them will have to pay cash up front. That can be difficult for some. But the work is fun and rewarding.

Call acupuncture schools in your area and ask about a tour. They can give you all the info about your state and your area, as well as what they require for admission and fees.

Good luck!
