Acupressure or acupuncture for sciatica?

Has anyone tried acupressure or acupuncture for the treatment of sciatica? What were the results?

I haven't tried it, but I've heard that it could be great. I use3d to get sciatica REALLY bad, but I finally found the culprit - my mattress. Once I moved and got a new bed, I haven;t had sciatica since, and that's been almost 2 years now. Another thing that I used to try with my old mattress was putting a flat piece of plywood under it to add support. The only problem with that fix is that even though it may help support your spine while you sleep on your back, if your a side sleeper it can cause negative pressure points elsewhere. I used to have to sleep in my living room floor for 3 nights in a row to get my sciatica under control every so often, I hated it. But look into seeing if your mattress can be causing your problem. I got a firmer mattress to offer spinal support, but got a memory foam mattress topper from Wal-Mart to relieve the pressure points, and I've been sciatica free since then. Good luck and I wish you relief soon!!!

Acupuncture can be very effective in the treatment of sciatica. It is one of the most common things for which people come to my acupuncture clinic.

In my experience, most people begin seeing results by the second treatment, if not on the first. On average I see sciatica pain patients 6 to 12 treatments at which time the pain is resolved or has reached a manageable level.

We received very good reports of pain reduction via acupuncture but you may wish to add some other therapies (Feldenkrais or Rolfing) to cure the condition. Watching the story linked below will also give you some Yoga postures that are beneficial
