9 week old with a possible Corn allergy. Where to go from here?

I think my head is about to explode. We have been through multiple formulas including milk-based, soy, hypoallergenic now we're on the Neocate, she does okay for the first few days and it seems like a relief, then the spitting up constantly, sneezing, coughing, and throwing up begins again. The GI says to put cereal in her bottle to help from spitting up and throwing up, seemed to work at first, then it stopped. Could this be a Corn allergy? If so what other formulas are out there that can help? Please help me!

I know this will sound weird, but try goats milk formula. It is good for babies who cannot tolerate other formulas.

I am not sure about corn allergies, but it sounds like you are having a very difficult time and I am so sorry for you. It is so sad when your baby is not feeling well.

I'm not sure about formulas because I bf, but I googled some stuff for you:

http://www.homemade-baby-food-recipes.co...

http://www.cornallergens.com/

symptoms are listed. apparently it's a fairly common allergen, which I didn't know. bring the symptoms to your doctor and look for the corn-based ingredients on the can.

also useful (a discussion on a forum):

sorry you're going through all that! hope she feels better soon and good luck to you too.

halfway down it says the ready to feed kind is corn-free. have you tried it yet?

is there no way u can breastfeed? even if u havent yet there r ways to bring ur milk in. it would solve ur problem

Yes, it darn well could be. My son nearly died before they figured out what was going on. He was allergic to milk ( 3 out of 5 proteins ) and corn syrup. Almost all milk free formulas have corn syrup, and almost all cornsyrup free formulas have milk. He wasn't allergic to soy. He was however allergic to 300 different things when we went to see the Pediatric allergist. Call up the nearest Children's Hospital, and get an appointment with a pediatric allergist that specializes in young children. You need an educated professional that "KNOWS" what he's talking about rather than local doctors who have no actual specialized training in allergies.
