Do people with nut allergies also have seed allergies?

Because I know some nuts are actually seeds, and some nuts are actually legumes. Do they just stay away from all things considered nuts or do they try and pinpoint exactly what they are allergic to. Thanks.

It varies from person to person, and to the type of nut or seed. Peanuts are actually a legume, but some people (my self included) can tolerate legumes, other than peanuts. Allergies are often related more to a series of chemical reactions in foods, such as amines, salicylates, free glutamates, sulfites, etc., more so than foods in the same family. Many allergies are actually to the way plants, nuts, seeds, etc. are grown (using GMO, pesticides, herbicides, etc) than to the food itself. Most pesticides contain soybean oil, corn oil, or other oils to make the pesticides stick to the plant. These can NOT be washed off-some of it is taken up by the plant, so many people are actually reacting to the sprays, more so than the actual fruit or veggie. Even organic produce is often grown with Auxigro, which contains high levels of MSG, soy and corn oil, and can cause reactions in some people.

My friend has a severe nut allergy (can kill her) but eats many seeds like sesame seeds , pumpkin etc .....

I have nut allergies and eat seeds. I do avoid pine nuts because I'm paranoid! lol
