Is it possible to develop dog allergies after 2 years?

My family bought a dog 2 years ago, and none of us have ever had any allergy to her. However, my son and I are allergic to cats. A few days ago, my son developed hives on his legs and arms. I'm afraid he may have become allergic to our dog. Also he says he has been getting rashes lately when he holds her.

Yes, it is possible. People can suddenly develop allergies to things they have always used or always been around. I have never read a reasonable explanation for this, but it often happens.


People can also outgrow allergies too.
