How did I ever get spring pollen allergies?

I get it every late spring. I lived in new york city my entire life so the same (in my area) paper mulberry arrives every year. But I started getting it in the spring of 2006, out of nowhere. I've been surrounded by people who had allergies most of my life, why did i get it then?

and now that it's coming very soon how do I avoid it?

But that's exactly how it happens! Allergy isn't something you're born with, allergies develop in sensitive individuals over a period of time and due to repeated contact with the offending allergen. You may have a dog for 10 years and be okay and then one morning the allergy is there to welcome you and stick around for good (most of the time). You can't really avoid spring pollen allergies (I mean, you do have to go out, right?), but just take an antihistamine pill like Claritin and you'll be fine. One pill a day takes care of all of your symptoms. Trust me, spring allergies aren't nearly as bad or debilitating as some people like to think they are. :)
